The 16-Hour Early Intervention Program is a state-approved educational program designed for individuals whose substance use evaluation indicates a need for more than the standard 12-hour alcohol education program, but who do not require the full 26-hour treatment program. It provides a moderate level of intervention for those at risk of developing more serious substance use issues.
The program includes 16 hours of structured education and early intervention activities. The curriculum builds on the foundational concepts of alcohol education while introducing more in-depth content about substance use patterns, risk factors, coping strategies, and the process of behavioral change.

Who Needs This Service?

You may be referred to this program by the Maryland MVA, a district or circuit court, a probation officer, an attorney, or through a diversion program. The referral is usually based on the results of a substance use evaluation that recommends a moderate level of education and intervention.

How the Process Works

The curriculum addresses substance use patterns, triggers, coping strategies, decision-making, and relapse prevention. Attendance and participation are tracked throughout the program. Upon completion, you receive an official completion certificate, and we provide all necessary documentation to your court, probation officer, or the MVA at no additional cost.
How Long Does It Take?
The 16-Hour Early Intervention Program consists of 16 hours of instruction, typically completed over 3 to 5 weeks depending on the class schedule.
We offer evening and virtual sessions to accommodate work and personal schedules. Spanish-language sessions are also available for clients who prefer to participate in Spanish.
