What Is This Service?

Anger management is a structured program designed to help individuals understand the roots of their anger, recognize triggers, and develop healthier ways of expressing and managing intense emotions. The program combines education, skill-building, and self-reflection to help participants gain control over their anger responses.

The curriculum covers understanding the physiology of anger, identifying personal triggers, learning de-escalation techniques, developing communication skills, practicing emotional regulation, and building strategies for long-term anger management. The approach is practical, evidence-based, and focused on real-world application.

Counseling Plus Inc. offers anger management classes with licensed facilitators who create a respectful, non-judgmental environment. Our program meets court requirements and provides documentation for legal, employment, or personal purposes. Available in English and Spanish, virtually and in person.

Who Needs This Service?

You may need anger management classes if a court has ordered you to complete an anger management program as part of sentencing, probation, or a diversion agreement. Anger management is commonly required in domestic violence cases, assault charges, workplace incidents, and other situations involving conflict or aggression.

You may also benefit from anger management if your employer has required it following a workplace incident, if you've recognized that anger is affecting your relationships or work, or if you simply want to develop healthier ways of managing intense emotions. The program is valuable for anyone who wants to gain better control over their anger responses.

Some individuals attend anger management proactively because they've noticed patterns of anger that they want to change. Whether you're court-ordered, employer-required, or self-referred, our program provides the same professional, evidence-based curriculum.

Signs You May Need This Service

  • A court ordered you to complete anger management classes

  • Anger is affecting your relationships or work

  • You want to develop healthier ways of managing emotions

  • You've had legal consequences related to anger

  • Your employer required anger management after an incident

  • You've been told your anger is a problem

  • Arguments escalate more than you'd like

How the Process Works

The program begins with enrollment and scheduling. We offer classes in person and virtually, with evening sessions available to accommodate work and family schedules. Classes are conducted in both English and Spanish.

During sessions, our licensed facilitators guide participants through the curriculum, which includes education about child development, communication strategies, positive discipline, conflict resolution, and co-parenting skills. The environment is supportive, respectful, and focused on growth.

Attendance and participation are tracked throughout the program. Upon completion, you receive a certificate of completion, and we provide all documentation to courts, DSS, or attorneys at no additional cost.

How Long Does It Take?

Anger management classes typically meet weekly, with sessions lasting 60 to 90 minutes. The total program duration depends on court requirements or individual needs — commonly 8 to 12 sessions.

If you have a court-ordered number of sessions, we'll structure the program to meet that requirement. If you're self-referred, we'll work with you to determine the appropriate duration based on your goals.

Virtual and evening sessions are available to accommodate work and personal schedules. Spanish-language classes are available for clients who prefer to participate in Spanish.

Who Accepts It?

Our anger management program is accepted by Maryland courts, probation offices, employers, and attorneys. The program meets the requirements for court-ordered anger management classes in Maryland.

We provide enrollment verification, attendance records, progress reports, and completion certificates directly to courts, probation officers, or employers at no additional administrative cost.

If you need documentation for a specific purpose — such as a court requirement or employer mandate — let us know what format the requesting party needs, and we'll ensure our documentation meets their requirements.

What Happens After Your Appointment?

After completing the anger management program, you'll receive a certificate of completion. If the program was required by a court or employer, we provide all completion documentation directly to your referring party at no additional cost.

Many participants find that the skills they learn in the program — such as trigger identification, de-escalation, and emotional regulation — continue to benefit them long after the program ends. We encourage ongoing practice of the skills learned.

If you find that you need additional support after completing the program, we offer individual therapy that can help you continue developing your anger management skills.
